Position Overview

A growing national home services company is seeking an experienced and hands-on Procurement Manager to lead its procurement operations, purchasing activities, and supplier network.

The Procurement Manager will be responsible for sourcing appliances, systems, equipment, replacement parts, and other materials needed to support service requests nationwide. This position will oversee the daily performance of the procurement team while developing strategies to reduce costs, improve purchasing efficiency, strengthen supplier relationships, and ensure timely fulfillment.

The ideal candidate combines strong procurement and vendor management experience with analytical skills, operational leadership, and a continuous-improvement mindset. This is a hands-on management position requiring someone who can effectively oversee both the strategic and day-to-day aspects of a high-volume procurement operation.

Key Responsibilities Procurement & Supplier Management

• Lead the Procurement Department and ensure purchasing activities align with company objectives, service standards, and budget requirements.
• Develop and execute procurement strategies focused on cost savings, supplier performance, fulfillment speed, and operational efficiency.
• Source, evaluate, negotiate with, onboard, and manage suppliers across a national vendor network.
• Negotiate competitive pricing, purchasing terms, service levels, and other favorable supplier arrangements.
• Conduct regular supplier performance reviews.
• Evaluate suppliers based on pricing, reliability, delivery times, returns, order accuracy, and overall service.
• Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs and improve supplier terms.
• Expand and diversify the supplier network to strengthen sourcing capabilities.
• Manage escalated supplier, purchasing, and fulfillment issues.

Procurement Operations

• Oversee daily procurement activity, including purchasing queues, assignments, team workflows, and escalations.
• Ensure orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve purchasing and fulfillment processes.
• Maintain and improve procurement workflows within proprietary internal systems.
• Improve purchasing accuracy, internal communication, and fulfillment efficiency.
• Anticipate staffing, resource, technology, and operational needs as purchasing volume increases.
• Develop solutions to complex procurement and operational challenges.

Reporting & Performance Management

• Develop, monitor, and evaluate departmental KPIs and performance metrics.
• Analyze purchasing activity, costs, supplier performance, and fulfillment data.
• Identify trends, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare reports and provide data-driven recommendations to leadership.
• Track cost-saving initiatives and procurement performance.
• Use reporting and operational data to drive purchasing decisions and process improvements.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Partner with internal technology teams to improve procurement systems and workflows.
• Assist with developing Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) for system enhancements.
• Participate in testing and implementation of new processes, tools, and functionality.
• Identify opportunities to automate or streamline repetitive procurement processes.
• Collaborate with operations and technical service teams to improve sourcing capabilities and reduce overall service costs.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop procurement team members.
• Establish clear expectations and promote accountability and strong performance.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
• Support succession planning and professional development initiatives.
• Partner with Learning & Development to create and improve training programs.
• Ensure new and existing team members receive appropriate training on procurement processes and systems.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented team environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, supply chain, vendor management, or a related operational role.
• Previous experience managing or supervising a team in a high-volume environment.
• Strong supplier negotiation and relationship-management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and execute cost-saving opportunities.
• Strong analytical skills with experience utilizing KPIs, reporting, and performance data.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable presenting recommendations and performance information to leadership.
• Experience improving operational workflows, systems, and processes.
• Comfortable learning and working with proprietary business systems and technology.
• Proficiency with Windows-based systems; familiarity with macOS is a plus.
• Experience forecasting staffing and resource requirements during high-volume periods preferred.
