Description
A community-based organization is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications to lead how it presents, communicates, and connects with its audience. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role sits at the center of the organization and is responsible for shaping brand identity, leading creative direction, and ensuring all communications are clear, compelling, and consistent.
This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment with multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of leading a team while personally executing high-quality work.
What You’ll Do
Program Marketing & Engagement
• Lead marketing efforts across all program areas to drive visibility, participation, and engagement
• Partner with program leaders to translate priorities into effective marketing strategies
• Build scalable systems to support program marketing across channels
• Ensure campaigns are timely, coordinated, and aligned with organizational standards
• Manage competing priorities with strong judgment and focus
Creative Direction & Design
• Serve as the creative lead, setting the standard for visual and creative output
• Design and contribute directly to digital, print, and campaign materials
• Oversee internal and freelance design resources to ensure consistency and quality
• Maintain a high standard of creative excellence and refinement
Content, Voice & Channels
• Own and define the organization’s voice across all communications
• Lead content development across email, social media, website, and campaigns
• Ensure messaging is cohesive, clear, and aligned across all channels
Fundraising & Executive Communications
• Develop fundraising materials including donor decks and campaign messaging
• Partner with executive leadership on key communications and special projects
• Translate programs and impact into compelling narratives that support fundraising
Publications & Media
• Oversee development and production of organizational publications
• Ensure high standards of editorial quality, design, and relevance
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to shape meaningful content
Marketing Operations & Team Leadership
• Establish workflows and systems to improve efficiency and consistency
• Lead and manage a small team across design, content, and social media
• Manage freelance and external creative partners
• Ensure marketing efforts are aligned, structured, and easy to execute across the organization
Requirements
• 8–12+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or creative roles
• Strong creative and design capabilities with a hands-on approach
• Experience using AI and modern tools to enhance marketing and creative workflows
• Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments
• Strong ability to simplify messaging and bring structure to complex organizations
• Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
