Position Overview

A school in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable IT Specialist to manage and support the school's day-to-day technology needs.

The IT Specialist will provide technical support to faculty, staff, and administration while helping maintain the school's computers, networks, devices, software, and other technology systems. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, and able to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently in a school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Troubleshoot computer hardware, software, network, printer, and connectivity issues.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and update computers and other technology equipment.
  • Set up and manage user accounts, devices, email, and system access.
  • Maintain school networks, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity.
  • Assist with classroom technology, projectors, displays, printers, and other equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform software installations, updates, and routine system maintenance.
  • Help maintain appropriate cybersecurity and data protection practices.
  • Manage technology inventory and keep accurate records of devices and equipment.
  • Coordinate technology purchases, replacements, repairs, and upgrades as needed.
  • Work with outside IT vendors and service providers when necessary.
  • Assist with technology setup for new employees and workstations.
  • Provide basic technology training and guidance to staff.
  • Maintain organized documentation of systems, equipment, and recurring technical issues.
  • Respond to urgent technology problems that may impact school operations.
  • Assist with additional technology-related projects and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in IT support, technical support, systems administration, or a related technology role.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and common operating systems.
  • Experience supporting printers, Wi-Fi, user accounts, and other workplace technology.
  • Understanding of basic network and cybersecurity practices.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple technical requests.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Dependable, responsive, and comfortable working independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with school systems and information.
  • Previous IT experience in a school or educational environment is a plus.
