Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Sleepaway Camp Director to lead the planning, development, and execution of an exceptional sleepaway camp program for Summer 2027. This leadership role is ideal for a proven camp professional who is passionate about creating meaningful experiences for campers, building a strong camp culture, and overseeing all aspects of camp operations.

The ideal candidate is an inspiring leader with extensive experience managing residential camps, developing staff, and creating safe, engaging, and memorable programs for children and teens.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, organization, and successful execution of the Summer 2027 sleepaway camp program.
  • Develop and cultivate a positive, inclusive, and values-driven camp culture for campers and staff.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and mentor camp leadership and seasonal staff.
  • Design and oversee engaging recreational, educational, athletic, and specialty programming.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and operational systems to ensure a safe and well-organized camp environment.
  • Oversee camper recruitment, enrollment, family communication, and retention initiatives.
  • Manage camp budgets, scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, licensing, and risk management requirements.
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership to establish long-term strategic goals and enhance the camp experience.
  • Build strong relationships with campers, families, staff, community partners, and vendors.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement continuous improvements for future camp seasons.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience serving in a leadership role at a residential or sleepaway camp.
  • Demonstrated success managing camp operations, staff, and large-scale youth programs.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and organizational skills.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supervising seasonal staff.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong operational, budgeting, and project management experience.
  • Knowledge of youth development, risk management, and camper safety best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for creating meaningful and memorable experiences for campers and staff.
