Ice Cream Shop Counterperson

Salary: $18.00-$20.00 per hour (commensurate with experience, plus cash/card tips)

We are seeking a enthusiastic, customer-focused Ice Cream Shop Counterperson to join our team in Monmouth County. As the main contact for our guests, you will create memorable experiences by serving sweet treats, describing menu items, and providing exceptional service. Whether dipping specialty items, scooping ice cream, or boxing fresh baked goods, you will bring energy and care to every order.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet walk-in guests with a friendly demeanor, answer questions about menu ingredients or allergens, and enter orders into the point-of-sale system.

  • Prepare and serve a variety of desserts, including scooping ice cream, plating baked goods, assembling specialty sundaes, and serving hot or cold beverages.

  • Package custom dessert orders, ensuring delicate cakes, pastries, and treats are boxed safely for takeout.

  • Maintain a spotless front counter, clean glass display cases, sanitize dining tables, and keep condiment stations fully stocked.

  • Manage cash and credit transactions accurately while ensuring register balance at the end of shifts.

  • Restock display cases, toppings, packaging supplies, and paper goods throughout the day.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a bakery, ice cream shop, cafe, or fast-casual food environment is a plus, but not required.

  • Upbeat attitude with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle fast-paced service rushes during peak evening and weekend hours.

  • Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and register operation.

  • Reliable transportation within the Deal, NJ area and a dependable work ethic.
