Location: Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NY Employment Type: Part-Time Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 9:30 AM–3:00 PM Salary: Based on Experience
Position Overview
A caring and reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Community Support Worker is needed to provide one-on-one assistance to an individual in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
The primary focus of this position is to provide day-to-day support, companionship, and encouragement while helping develop greater independence and organizational skills. The ideal candidate is patient, responsible, supportive, and comfortable assisting with practical daily living activities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with daily routines and activities.
Provide support with grocery shopping and meal preparation.
Help develop and strengthen organizational skills.
Encourage greater independence with everyday responsibilities.
Support the development of independent living skills.
Assist with basic money-management skills.
Help create, organize, and follow a personal budget.
Provide companionship, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
Help establish and maintain productive daily routines.
Encourage the individual to complete tasks as independently as possible while providing appropriate support.
Assist with community-based activities and errands as needed.
Maintain professional and respectful communication with the individual and support team.
Qualifications
Caring, patient, responsible, and dependable.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Comfortable providing one-on-one support.
Ability to encourage independence rather than completing every task for the individual.
Comfortable assisting with grocery shopping, meal preparation, budgeting, and other everyday activities.
Previous experience as a DSP, community support worker, companion, mentor, caregiver, or similar role is preferred.
Reliable and able to consistently maintain the required schedule.
