Position Overview

We are offering a paid internship opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the human services field by supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities. Our organization provides individualized, person-centered services designed to promote independence, dignity, and an improved quality of life. Programs are tailored to each individual’s diagnosis, abilities, and goals, with a strong emphasis on respect, inclusion, and personal growth.

This internship provides meaningful, real-world experience working directly with clients in structured, supportive environments. Interns may support children during after-school hours or adults during daytime hours, including consistent and steady shifts in adult women’s group homes. This role is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, dependable, and interested in learning more about careers in healthcare, education, and social services.

Key Responsibilities

Client Support & Daily Care

  • Assist children or adults with daily routines, personal care, and structured activities

  • Support clients in developing social, communication, and life skills

  • Encourage independence while ensuring safety and well-being

Program & Activity Support

  • Participate in after-school programming for children or daytime programming for adults

  • Assist with recreational, educational, and life-skills activities

  • Support structured schedules and routines in residential and program settings

Professional Collaboration

  • Work alongside supervisors and team members to support individual care plans

  • Communicate observations and updates regarding client progress or needs

  • Follow established procedures and program guidelines

Safety, Respect & Documentation

  • Maintain a respectful, patient, and professional approach at all times

  • Follow organizational policies related to confidentiality and client dignity

  • Assist with basic documentation or reporting as directed
