Position Overview
A community-based nonprofit organization is seeking a creative and thoughtful Part-Time Social Media Manager to develop engaging, informative, and educational content focused on mental health and community awareness.
This role is ideal for someone who understands social media, enjoys creating meaningful content, and can communicate sensitive mental health topics in a clear, respectful, and approachable way. The Social Media Manager will help strengthen the organization's online presence while providing useful resources and education to the community.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage the organization's social media content and presence.
Create informative and educational content related to mental health, wellness, and community resources.
Develop posts, graphics, short-form videos, stories, and other engaging social content.
Create and maintain a consistent social media content calendar.
Write clear, engaging, and audience-appropriate captions and messaging.
Translate complex or sensitive mental health topics into accessible and easy-to-understand content.
Ensure content is respectful, responsible, and aligned with the nonprofit's mission.
Collaborate with organizational leadership and mental health professionals when developing content.
Promote programs, events, educational initiatives, and community resources.
Monitor engagement and respond or escalate messages and comments appropriately.
Track social media performance and identify opportunities to improve reach and engagement.
Stay current on social media trends and identify appropriate ways to incorporate them into the organization's content.
Maintain a consistent and professional voice across social platforms.
Qualifications
Previous experience in social media management, content creation, digital marketing, communications, or a related area preferred.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Ability to create engaging social media content for different audiences.
Comfortable creating or coordinating graphics, videos, reels, and other digital content.
Strong understanding of major social media platforms and current content trends.
Excellent judgment when communicating about sensitive topics.
Organized, creative, dependable, and able to work independently.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a consistent content schedule.
Interest or experience in mental health, nonprofit, community, or educational content is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Canva or similar content-creation tools is a plus.
