Position Overview
A family is seeking a warm, dependable, and attentive Companion / Patient Support professional to spend time with an older gentleman who is currently recovering from a hip fracture in a rehabilitation facility.
The companion will provide a supportive presence during the hours when family members are unable to be there. The primary focus of the position is companionship, conversation, reassurance, and general support throughout the rehabilitation and recovery process.
This is currently a temporary position, with the potential to continue after discharge when he returns home.
Key Responsibilities
Provide friendly, engaging, and consistent companionship.
Spend time talking and interacting with him throughout the day.
Offer encouragement, reassurance, and emotional support during rehabilitation.
Be attentive to his comfort and general needs.
Provide a calm and supportive presence while family members are unavailable.
Help communicate requests or concerns to rehabilitation facility staff when appropriate.
Keep family members informed of any notable concerns or changes.
Encourage a positive and comfortable environment throughout his recovery.
Work cooperatively and respectfully with family members and facility staff.
Qualifications
Warm, patient, compassionate, and dependable.
Comfortable spending extended periods of time with an older adult.
Attentive and able to recognize and communicate concerns appropriately.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsible and punctual.
Able to communicate effectively with both family members and rehabilitation staff.
Prior experience as a companion, caregiver, patient support professional, or working with older adults is helpful but not required.
