Mental Health Position Summary

 

Provide administrative support to psychiatric providers in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role focuses on scheduling, communication, and general administrative coordination to support efficient day-to-day operations of the psychiatric team.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments
  • Maintain and update provider calendars
  • Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely and professional manner
  • Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and other providers as needed
  • Assist with processing patient requests (e.g., letters for schools, agencies, etc.)
  • Maintain basic tracking spreadsheets for appointments and follow-ups
  • Run routine reports as requested
  • Support documentation processes in accordance with applicable standards
  • Monitor controlled substance reports as directed
  • Provide occasional front desk coverage when needed
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Skills & Education:

 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer and typing proficiency
  • Comfortable using electronic health records (EHR) systems (experience with AWARDS or similar systems a plus)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to time-critical issues
  • Professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Reliable and responsive
  • Prior administrative experience preferred; healthcare experience is a plus
  • Undergraduate degree or preferred, or undergraduate enrollment
